Greetings from Guatemala,
We’ve been seeing all the posts on Facebook of all the beautiful bluebonnets and wild flowers blooming in Texas this spring. What a blessing to have the rainfall to produce such beauty. We are proud to see the end of the drought for you all. Our rainy season is fixing to start in May.
We’ve had a break in teams but never the less we’ve been busy with other projects. Bob, Gary and Obed have been working on two different water projects. One is in Esquintla at the dump ground. He has some men digging their well deeper to produce more water and also they’re building a tower for water storage tanks to hold the water and the bottom of the tower will serve as a storage building for tools, supplies and the water purification system that will be installed.
The other project is at Village of Hope here in San Lucas. They’re piping water from an existing well to a water holding tank on top of a mountain.
Anita, Rachel and I have been making home visits to some of the families in Santa Maria De Jesus. One of the mothers was concerned about the health of her seven month old baby, so we took her to the Doctor to ease her mind. The child is fine and the mother is relieved. The children of this family all needed shoes so we took her to the market and got them shoes.
We also visited a Government run daycare. I think they said they have around 60 kids they care for while their parents work in the fields. The director said they were there from 5:30 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. Most Guatemalans only work a half a day on Saturday with Sunday being their only day off. We’re hoping to bring teams to serve at this daycare.
