Greetings from Guatemala, we pray that you all had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving, and we want to tell you about the Thanksgiving feast that we helped with here at Casa Shalom, this is the second year they have done this, cooked a traditional thanksgiving meal for the kids at the orphanage. We helped with 7 turkeys, helped peel 100 lbs of potato’s, cooked 100 ears of corn on the cob, they made 2 gallons of gravy, cut up watermelon, and baked 12 cakes. The kids loved it and there was very little left over. There was a team here from Florida who did most of the cooking, They were a great help.
This same team went to Rio Bravo with over 200 gift bags for the kids there, the bags had beans, rice, toothpaste toothbrush, an orange, and a lime. Also every child received a new pair of shoes. What a blessing for the children, Thank you Maranatha Church from Palm Beach Gardens Florida.
One of the most recent projects we have been working on is a pavilion at the top of the hill at Shalom. They had already built a really nice barbeque pit up there and wanted to cover it. So cover it we did with a 22’X60′ roof. Having some good help from these team members. There is a team here right now from Florida 20 people in all providing lots of good help with this project.
Then one of the latest things we did was had a big Christmas party for the kids, They all received gifts and ate pizza, and birthday cake for Jesus’s birthday, sang happy birthday Jesus, It was a very special time for them all. They prayed for the team and the team prayed for the kids and the house parents.
We are happy to let you all know that we will be going to Texas for Christmas this year. We will be leaving here on the 14th of December and return on the 4th. of January. It will be nice to be home for Christmas. Something we would like to let you all know about is that we are looking into getting a small drilling rig for drilling water wells. This will allow us to drill water wells and case them for the people of Guatemala who need it the most. The cost of the machine and shipping to get it here is around $9,000.00. Something to pray about, If the Lord would lead you to help with this project.
Psalm 68:5 “A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary
in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in dry land.”
He is concerned for those in need. Let us set our minds on Him and try to be more like him so that we can be used of Him to meet needs we can’t even see.
The prayer request for this month are that we would have safe travel both to Texas and for the return trip, Please pray for the need of the drilling machine, We feel like God will meet these needs on his time table. Also please join in with us in giving praise for all the things that we have been blessed with. Please help us in praying for those less fortunate, and for God to open our eyes to those to help.
